Do you watch TV shows and movies with or without subtitles? Tell us here.

I'm all for closed captioning subtitles, because it helps people for the hard of hearing.

It's great for there to be an option for people who need them. I personally don't like watching shows with subtitles (unless it's a subbed anime) because I find them distracting, though.

English is not my first language, so yes, I do need subtitles

I do both. Depends on the show, if it’s hard to hear dialog or not mostly.

I don't need them, but sometimes I put them on because when I was a kid, I got used to a TV that had them on (and I didn't know how to turn them off for months).

I always watch in Subtitles, even English speaking shows. You find many things you didn't hear. Especially useful for other English speaking shows like England where they can have an accent.

Just when shows and movies have odd, slang dialog in them like Firefly/Serenity and Cloud Atlas (in the future where Tom Hanks's and Halle Berry's characters were barely speaking English at all).

Subtitles are too distracting for me.

I only use subtitles when I'm watching shows in a foreign language (in which case, I usually prefer to watch them with the original actors' voices rather than with an English dub).
